What is PRINCE2?

PRINCE2 is an effective project management technique that is mainly employed within the UK, Australia and European countries. "PRINCE2" refers to Projects IN Controlled Environments, since this approach focuses on managing risk and resources by breaking projects down into smaller phases, delineating clearly defined roles and responsibilities, and using seven methods to manage the entire project duration.

Through the organization of the project into clear steps PRINCE2 requires an organizational framework for managing projects with a well-organized and monitored plan for the project before beginning, one that is organized throughout the life of the project.

  5. Be Exceptional in your Management There are tolerances for each project's objective. These limits define the way in which authority is delegated. If the tolerance is not met, the management team has to decide if the tolerance should be defined.

  6. Concentrate on the products The quality standards of the products and services are of prime importance.

  7. Tailoring to Fit Project Environment The complexity, size of the project, its importance, duration and risk. also known as the context of the project can be utilized to customize the project at the beginning and through the various stages that the plan goes through.
